Triesting-Gölsen Valley Bicycle Trail

60 km (37 mi) of constantly changing landscapes
(c) Niederösterreich-Werbung/Leo Himsl
The tour is part of the "Alpentour Austria"
This tour combines two different bicycle trails – the trail through the Triesting river valley (34 km, 21 mi) and the trail through the Gölsen river valley (27 km, 17 mi) – into one pleasant trip. It connects the vineyards of the thermal region with the alpine feel of the mountains to the west. This tour will take you well off in the beaten track, with little tourist activity in the small villages along the way.

Pilgrimage route to Mariazell

You can do the trip in two directions: if you start off in Leobersdorf in the southern Vienna Woods you will follow part of the Via Sacra, the old pilgrimage route from Vienna to Mariazell, the most important church of pilgrimage in Austria. Because of this unique history you will find interesting attractions en route like the ruins of the Araburg or the basilica of Klein-Mariazell. The tour ends in Traisen where it joins another path – the Traisental bicycle trail. If you prefer less effort start in Kaumberg and simply follow the Triesting river downstream. This trip is especially recommended for families.
