Winter beyond the slopes

Downhill runs, alpine hut parties and cross country skiing marathons are not for everyone: some tips for those who prefer the great outdoors and slow-paced winters.

Snow or no snow – Lower Austria is packed full of amazing things for you to experience in winter. Fresh air fanatics, well wrapped up for the occasion, can enjoy walking on the numerous winter hiking trails or even put on their snowshoes to wander through this winter wonderland. We have also put together a summary of the place where you can go walking with your pet. The snug surroundings in the cosy lodges and inns invite you to warm up and recharge your batteries. With the toboggan waiting just outside the lodge, you can enjoy a gentle route back down the valley.
