Route description Palace kingdom deluxe cycle route

Start at Schloss Marchegg. As the venue for the Lower Austria State Exhibition 2022 you discover fascinating new information about Marchfeld in the exhibition 'MARCHFELD Secrets – People. Culture. Nature.' Along with cultural highlights, this is also the right place for nature fans. The surrounding nature reserve inspires with its white stork colony and impressive flora and fauna. The route proceeds along the Kamp-Thaya-March cycle path to Schloss Hof. Here you get to immerse yourself into a fascinating Baroque realm and will be inspired by the beauty of Prince Eugen's country residence. Along with the splendid palace, the unique Baroque gardens and the idyllic country estate with its plants and animals are also worth visiting. Right in front of the entrance to the palace the route branches off to the right and proceeds past wide fields to Schloss Niederweiden. The former hunting lodge of Prince Eugen and Maria Theresia is a real insider tip and its charm provides a special allure. Continue your ride to Engelhartstetten. Via Loimersdorf and Kopfstetten follow the B3 and get to the next cultural highlight: Schloss Eckartsau. Here you get to set out in the footsteps of successor to the throne Franz Ferdinand and Emperor Karl, the last Emperor of Austria, who sought refuge here after the declaration of renunciation in November 1918. The Danube Cycle Path (EuroVelo 6) takes you further through the Danube-Auen National Park and its breath-taking scenery, to Stopfenreuth. Here you leave the Danube Cycle Path and head for Engelhartstetten, where you get back to Schloss Hof. Continue eastwards across the 'Fahrradbrücke der Freiheit' into neighbouring Slovakia and Devínská Nová Ves. Along the Iron Curtain Trail (EuroVelo 13) cycle through the landscape of March-Auen heading north, where you get back to Marchegg via the new VysoMarch cycle bridge.
