Brief description
The north-south axis through the wide land - The EuroVelo 9 is part of the European long-distance cycling network and connects the Baltic Sea with the Adriatic Sea. On the way from Gdańsk to Pula, about 180 km pass through Lower Austria. The approximately 45-kilometer section of EuroVelo 9, which connects Vienna from the city border at Inzersdorf/Vorarlberger Allee to Kleinwolkersdorf near Wiener Neustadt, is called the Thermenradweg.
Description
The Thermenradweg
For cyclists with a fine sense of enjoyment, the Thermen region is an enticing area, as the Thermenradweg opens up the legendary wine region in a very comfortable way. On flat paths, it leads from the outskirts of Vienna (Vorarlberger Allee) via Vösendorf, along a well-paved route towards Laxenburg, continuing through the sun-drenched Thermen region. The Thermenradweg now runs for a long stretch alongside the Wiener Neustadt Canal past Pfaffstätten, continuing to Wiener Neustadt and further to Kleinwolkersdorf. Always in view: the gentle hills on the southeastern edge of the Vienna Woods, where the wine grows so well.
The Thermenregion is an excellent area for traditional wine taverns. The route offers scenic views and yet remains pleasantly flat. The varied cycling enjoyment can be very individually designed thanks to exemplary rail connections.
