Sonntagberg Basilica

Church, Historical sites, Scenic lookout

Description

Visible from afar, the baroque two-tower church is one of the most beautiful lookout points along the panorama ridgeway and also the most significant pilgrimage church of the Mostviertel region. The first chapel at this location was built in 1400.

The current "basilica minor" was built in the 18th century by baroque architects Jakob Prandtauer and Josef Munggenast. The church’s frescoes, its treasury and high altar are particularly worth seeing.
