Description

Turquoise green and crystal clear: Lake Erlaufsee not far from Mitterbach lies at the foot of the Gemeindealpe and the Styrian Bürgeralpe. It thus connects the federal states of Lower Austria and Styria. And just a stone's throw away is the famous pilgrimage site of Mariazell.

Covering an area of 58 hectares, the picturesque mountain lake invites you to swim, boat, fish and dive. It is also a popular excursion and holiday destination in the middle of one of the most beautiful hiking areas in the Mostviertel.

Lake Erlaufsee: Bathing Paradise & Diving Hotspot

With its sunbathing lawn and pebble beach, Lake Erlauf is a summer mecca for bathing, swimming and splashing around. Divers love the water, which is up to 38 metres deep, especially for its clear visibility and exciting underwater worlds - and of course for the affiliated diving school. Passionate anglers, on the other hand, are delighted to see numerous fish cavorting in the water - from perch to char.

Family excursion to Mitterbach: boating & going on holiday

Over 30 rowing boats, pedal boats and electric boats can be rented for a beautiful lake tour. Enjoyment and refreshment await you in the restaurant and snack bar. For nature-oriented holidays directly at Lake Erlaufsee, there is a campsite on the shore as well as great flats, guesthouses and holiday farms in Mitterbach.
