From June 21-September 8 the highlight of the summer festival period , Grafenegg Music Summer, provides musical enjoyment at its finest with a spectacular open-air stage.

But in 2018 you do not need to wait for summer to enjoy Grafenegg in all its glory: Graffenegg Spring celebrates its debut here and in the summertime the stars congregate under the starry sky for a Summer Night Gala and summertime concerts. Grafenegg Festival promises, once again, to be the highlight of the musical, cultural summer in Lower Austria before Grafenegg’s Advent brings the 2018 music year to a close.

Grafenegg Spring

For the first time, Grafenegg invites you to an Easter garden, culinary and musical delights: In the refined atmosphere of the castle and the idyllic Castle Park, you can experience the most beautiful facets of springtime. At the Easter market you will find high quality arts and crafts, a myriad of gardening and plant offers and gardening knowhow brought to you by the Radio NÖ gardeners: Franz Gabesam and Johannes Käfer. In the «A Taste of Lower Austria »- village, there will be regional delicacies and culinary host Toni Mörwald will present his latest spring dishes in his live cooking session. Musical highlights of Grafenegg Spring are the Good Friday concert, being offered for the first time, as well as the traditional Easter Sunday Concert in the Concert Hall Auditorium. Mozart’s «Requiem» will be performed on March 30 by the Tonkünstler Orchestra, conducted by the renowned original sound expert, Rinaldo Alessandrini.

“Sound meets scenery” at the Summer Night Gala on June 21 and 22. Two of the great voices and one of the best cello virtuosi of our time promise a display of musical fireworks on the Wolkenturm open-air stage: South African soprano Pretty Yende and Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja, both of whom have long been celebrated throughout the entire world of opera, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, as well as Dutch cellist Harriet Krijgh, who enraptures her audience with her wild passion for making music. These are the celebrity guests with which the Tonkünstler and their head conductor Yutaka Sado are preparing a musical feast for all senses on a midsummer’s eve in Grafenegg.

Summer Concert on the Wolkenturm Open-Air Stage

Viennese waltz? Hollywood music? Magical melodies from the Baroque era? Or would you prefer Bach with brass? The Tonkünstler Orchestra and other top ensembles present exciting programs with excellent international Classical music soloists. Spend your Saturday in the summertime in the unique atmosphere of the Castle Park and enjoy music in the middle of the outdoors.

With its international orchestras, Grafenegg Festival is regarded as a highlight of the Cultural Summer in Lower Austria. In 2018, the Mariinsky Orchestra of St. Petersburg under Valery Gergiev or the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Charles Dutoit and soloist world stars, including Hélène Grimaud, virtuosa Hilary Hahn, Juan Diego Flórez and Rudolf Buchbinder will be performing in the unique atmosphere of Grafenegg.
