From perry to wine

Treat yourself to an enjoyable tour through the Mostviertel by following the Ybbs and Traisen cycle routes.

Up the Ybbs and down the Traisen: On this cycle tour, which is approximately 240km and starts and finishes in Sankt Pölten, you will experience the many different facets of the Mostviertel in seven stages. The loop takes in the magnificent cultural heritage in Sankt Pölten, Melk and Mariazell, the charming foothills of the Alps in the north, the majestic alpine scenery in the south, the area home to the perry pear tree, the Iron Road region and the Mostviertel’s wine region. The package is completed by overnight stays with breakfast at cyclist-friendly hotels and guest houses, sightseeing visits and a transfer from Lunz am See to Mariazell, which would be quite strenuous to cycle due the increase in elevation.

  • Seven nights with breakfast at three-star hotels or guest houses
  • Meal consisting of foods traditionally eaten with perry and three varieties of perry to sample
  • Tour of Sankt Pölten following an audio guide on your mobile phone (in German or English)
