2. Guided hikes in the Donau-Auen National Park

There are also exciting guided hikes for children in the Donau-Auen National Park. Take part in a beaver spotting afternoon (from 2:00 until 5:00) on 12 February. Come and meet the National Park’s songbirds and waterfowl from 9:30 am until 12:30 noon on 13 February.

3. Walk with alpacas and donkeys in the Waldviertel

Fluffy fur and cute button eyes... It’s impossible not to love the alpacas and donkeys, who are waiting to meet you in the Waldviertel! It's not just children who are as keen as mustard and can't wait to explore the snowy winter landscape with some new animal friends.

4. Guided night hikes in the Ötscher-Törmäuer Nature Park

On certain dates in the winter, the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park rangers invite visitors to join them on a very special hike known as the Winter Night Experience! The stars shine brightly above you, the snow glitters at your feet, and the furry forest dwellers provide a musical accompaniment.

5. Guided tours for families, and daily creative activities in the Lower Austria Museum

During the holidays, the Lower Austria Museum offers fun and games for all ages, and free entry for children and youths aged 18 and under. Family tours take place daily (including Mondays) at 2 p.m.; and from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., there are exciting creative activities to enjoy!
