Summer concerts in an idyllic setting

The stage is set for summertime in Grafenegg: After the Midsummer Night Gala come the summer concerts, before the 11th Grafenegg Festival is launched.

Is there ever a dull moment in Grafenegg? Definitely not: There are numerous surprises in every detail, a fact that promises to make the summer concerts and Grafenegg Festival unforgettable experiences for all music lovers.

On 22 and 23 June, Grafenegg’s summer season will officially open with the Midsummer Night Gala at the Wolkenturm amphitheatre. The popular Summer Night Concerts will take place on the next seven Saturdays. The summer concert programme spans a wide spectrum, which includes everything from Baroque to contemporary, and will this year be of particular interest to fans of movies and musicals.

International orchestras and soloists – including old favourites and excellent newcomers to Grafenegg – grace the stage at the Grafenegg Festival. With three symphonies and one of the most beautiful song cycles in the history of music, great emphasis will be placed on the work of Gustav Mahler. Voices including those of Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Aida Garifullina, the virtuosity of soloists such as Martin Grubinger and Vadim Repin and directors including Semyon Bychkov and Daniel Harding will guarantee that the summer in Grafenegg will be a festival of sound. Music is a living, constantly evolving organism – a fact that this year’s Composer in Residence Brad Lubman embodies and conveys in the composer-conductor workshop, “Ink Still Wet”.
