Schloss Schrattenthal

Castle, Historical sites

Description

Schrattenthal Castle is nestled in the rolling hills of the western Weinviertel - not far from Retz - at the foot of the Manhartsberg. The castle has been owned by the Schubert family for 90 years, who still live in it today. Schrattenthal Castle has been restored in recent years with tireless dedication and great attention to detail and is now a place of leisure, peace and harmony. The late Gothic castle church, the baroque granary and the medieval hunger tower with its dungeon are witnesses to those eras. The castle courtyard, castle park and wine cellar - no one can resist the excitement. The castle park is home to a 3.5-hectare lavender field with more than 60,000 plants. The flowering in July, when the annual lavender festival takes place, is particularly impressive.

Guided tours are organized for those interested. You can find out everything you need to know about life in the castle at first hand.

Private events can also be organized in this impressive setting and anyone who would like to spend the night in a castle can book the castle's vacation apartment.
