The criteria
Requirements and scoring system for a Green Meeting
Would you like to have your event certified as a ‘Green Meeting’ with the Austrian Ecolabel? To do so, various criteria must be met, which are organised into a points-based system. Data is entered very simply via an online platform run by the Federal Ministry. The system automatically calculates whether the current points total is sufficient or whether additional measures are required.
The requirements of the ‘UZ62’ guideline are met when the mandatory criteria are fulfilled and the event achieves the minimum number of points. The total number of points is calculated based on the options and offerings available at the event.
The criteria – general and specific
The criteria of Eco-Labelling Directive 62 are divided into two areas:
- Basic conditions which the licence holder, as a company, must fulfil
- Individual criteria, which vary depending on the event
Some of the criteria for events can be chosen freely. The key requirement is that a minimum number of points is achieved, which varies depending on the type of event. There are also bonus criteria, such as the organiser’s own initiatives, which can be awarded an extra point.
Points can be earned in the following areas:
- Mobility and climate protection
- Accommodation
- Venue
- Procurement, materials and waste management
- Exhibitors/stand builders
- Event catering / food and drink services
- Communication
- Social aspects
- Event technology
