Stallegg train station

Train station

Description

In the middle of the green - almost hidden - you discover the station of Stallegg. Situated on the right bank of the Kamps, the village covers an area of not quite 0.50 km².

Ruin Stallegg

In the direction of Etzmannsdorf, you can reach the Stallegg ruins via the hiking trail with the blue markings and along the newly constructed wood transport trail. Hidden in the beech forest and partly somewhat overgrown, you will find the walls of the former castle, which are accessible all year round, if you wear sturdy shoes. The historical remains of the walls invite you to take a break and recharge your batteries.

History

Stallegg profited greatly from the construction of the Kamptal railway line, as the village enjoyed great popularity during the heyday of the summer resort. Unfortunately, after 1945, the upswing could not be continued, not least due to sinking temperatures caused by the construction of the Kamptal reservoirs as well as changing travel habits.
