The original Wachau apricot is a special fruit with a unique aroma. The Wachau region and its outlying villages provide the ideal conditions for these delicate fruits to grow and ripen. The Wachau apricot does not like to be forced into a corset. Here the trees are allowed to grow towards the sky and the best fruit ripens in the expansive crowns!

The Wachau Apricot Experience Trail leads you through the picturesque wine landscape and through old apricot gardens on the trail of the noble fruit! Five stations invite you to learn more about the animals in the apricot garden, the blossoming of the trees and the work in the apricot garden.

There are plenty of wildflowers and wild herbs to be found in the many intervening areas, along the ravines, hedges and roadsides and even in the middle of the gardens. Those who want to observe the wildlife will be just as richly rewarded. From insects, spiders and birds to small mammals such as the very special ground squirrel, rare reptiles such as the fire salamander or green lizard to pheasants, hares and deer ... if you have a little leisure and patience, you will encounter them all here!
