Almesbrunnberg
Mountain summit
Description
The 1,079-metre-high Almesbrunnberg is located in the Gutenstein Alps in the municipality of Muggendorf and is considered an insider tip. The hike up the mountain takes you through very varied landscapes such as orchards, various forests and pastures.
Marked hiking trails lead from the former Jagasitz inn, with its impressive views of the Schneeberg, or from the Berg farmstead up to around 300 meters from the Almesbrunnberg, with the last stretch to the summit on an unmarked trail.
Fantastic view
What is special is that the highest point is completely surrounded by forest. However, a large meadow saddle just below the summit offers a breathtaking view of the Limestone Alps, from Schneeberg to Ötscher.
Impressive Steinwandklamm gorge
A highlight of the ascent is the "Steinwandklamm", one of the most beautiful gorges in eastern Austria, which is crossed on the hike.
This hike combines a "romantic gorge hike" and ascent of a fantastic panoramic mountain with views ranging from Rax to Schneeberg and Unterberg.
Tips:
- Hike to the Myra Falls
- Stop off at the Myrastubn
