Description
The 1,313-metre-high Hinteralm is the highest point in Lilienfeld and, like the Muckenkogel, is one of the most beautiful panoramic mountains in Lower Austria. The view extends to the north over the Danube valley and to the south far into the Alps.
Location: Mostviertel, Lilienfeld district, Gutenstein Alps
Lilienfeld is just an hour's drive from Vienna and offers nature lovers numerous hiking trails and alpine climbs. The alpine pasture region around the Muckenkogel is accessible by the Lilienfeld chair lift.
The 100-year-old Traisner Hut is located directly at the summit of the Hinteralm and invites you to stop for a bite to eat!
Opening hours: Open all year round (closed on Mondays)
In winter, the Hinteralm/Traisnerhütte is the starting point for ski tours, in summer for extended hikes.

from Lilienfeld with the Muckenkogel chair lift, 45 min. on foot from the summit station;
2 1/2 hours on foot from Lilienfeld; no access by car.
Adventure trails and hikes around the Hinteralm
- The Mathias Zdarsky inventor's trail is ideal for beginners. On this trail, his most important inventions are presented using true-to-original models. (Duration: 1h)
- The Mathias Zdarsky Panorama Trail takes a little longer. A circular route from the summit station via Muckenkogel and Hinteralm and back via the Klosteralm. (Duration: 2.5 hours)
- The waterfall trail is ideal for company outings or family outings, leading along romantic forest paths past natural phenomena. (Duration: 2h)

Tour tip for mountain bikers
The scenic tour to the Muckenkogel starts in the center of Lilienfeld at the municipal office, the local history museum, directly on the Traisental cycle route. Climb up to the transmitter on the Muckenkogel, after a total of around 900 meters in altitude you reach the cosy Traisnerhütte on the Hinteralm. After some refreshments, you return to the starting point along the same route. (Duration: 3 hours)

- Zdarsky Berg, Muckenkogel: The 1,248 m high Muckenkogel above the medieval Lilienfeld Abbey attracts hikers with its alpine pastures, forest and waterfalls - as well as well-marked hiking trails.
- The Almgasthaus Klosteralm offers a wonderful panoramic view from the sun terrace to the south with the striking Ötscher. Only 10 minutes from the chair lift summit station.
Tip: The nostalgic ski race takes place every year in March. Starting point at the hut.
