Start like FIT trail, after 1 km turn right, two stronger climbs followed by gentle descents. 

Description

In summer, the Schlesinger pond with forest spring water quality offers the possibility for fishing and swimming. In winter, Bärnkopf has made a name as a cross-country skiing center. It is also an ideal starting point for hikes, MTB routes, and excursions to interesting cultural monuments of the Waldviertel.
Woodcutter museum: The woodcutter museum shows on display panels the development from the opening up of the area to today's forestry. Old saws, picks, and other tools help to gain a vivid insight. Various experience places let you discover wood, forest, and way of life.

Directions

A1 - West motorway; exit Ybbs/Donau - B36 towards Zwettl to Laimbach - Gutenbrunn - Bärnkopf

Safety information

 • Keep to the prescribed direction of travel
• Keep right, overtake on the left
• When stopping or falling, clear the track immediately
• On trail sections with oncoming traffic, the ascending person must make way
• Pedestrians and dogs are not allowed to enter the trail (Forest Act, risk of accident, destruction of the track)
• Please keep the forest clean. Take everything you brought into the forest back home with you
• Do not leave the designated trails
• In strong wind and with ice-covered trees, staying in the forest is dangerous and at your own risk
