Brief description

The holiday resort of Emmersdorf offers the perfect starting point for a varied day trip with the family along the Danube.

Description

The best way to get to Emmersdorf is on the Wachau railway. You then cycle upstream on a flat section of the Danube cycle path with marvellous views. The first destination is the Weitenegg leisure centre, which has a lovely child- and family-friendly bathing beach! There is a buffet with toilets and changing rooms, showers, pedalo hire, an aqua jump, surfing facilities, a children's playground and a beach volleyball court. It is also possible to hire a boat and marvel at the landscape from the water.

Crossing the power station offers exciting views - perhaps a ship is just coming through the lock! - and also allows you to visit the sights of Melk on the opposite bank. The return journey takes you over the Danube bridge and back to the railway station in Emmersdorf.

There is a buffet with toilets and changing rooms, showers, pedalo hire, an aqua jump, surfing facilities, a children's playground and a beach volleyball court. It is also possible to hire a boat and marvel at the landscape from the water. A short stretch of the route back and then it's over the Melk power station to the other side of the Danube. There you cycle through the floodplain to Melk, which offers an exciting change of scenery with its abbey. You then cycle back to Emmersdorf over the Danube bridge.
