Brief description

From the Gasthof Hubertushof at 707 m, you go to the highest point of this hike, the Steyersberger Schwaig at 1390 m 

Description

Your adventure begins at the Hubertushof in Trattenbach. Here you can also get maps and gladly information about the route. 

The hiking path begins along the road towards the town center and from here uphill over the Trattenbachgraben. You will repeatedly come across signs pointing the way to the Steyersberger Schwaig.

When you reach the Schwaig, the highest point and the destination for a stop are already reached. Look forward to a hearty snack and cool refreshments at the hut and enjoy the fresh air and alpine atmosphere at the Schwaig.

The return route follows the alpine path (T1). Simply follow the path back to the Hubertushof parking lot.

Directions

Take the S6 exit Gloggnitz and continue on Höllental Str./B27, turn left to stay on Höllental Str., then turn right onto Schlaglstraße, pass Wartenstein Castle to Schlagl - Otterthal and Trattenbach.

The Hubertushof of the Mies family is located on the left side.

Parking

Parking is available opposite the Hubertushof. The Hubertushof’s own parking spaces are exclusively reserved for guests. 

From Gloggnitz station take line 367 to the Feuerwehr Otterthal stop. From here continue with line 368 to Trattenbach town center.

The start of the route is then the Trattenbachgraben.

Equipment

Always take suitable maps with you. Wear sturdy shoes adapted to the route. Bring your mobile phone and save the mountain rescue emergency number: 140

Preparation

Make sure that the chosen route matches your experience and fitness. Check the weather forecast in advance. Weather can change surprisingly quickly in the mountains. Therefore, always start suitably equipped (e.g., rain protection).

Check if the inns you want to visit along the way are open. Inform someone about your chosen route and planned return before you set off.

The Hubertushof of the Mies family is not only great for a stopover but also excellent for overnight stays.
