Details for: Hike to Rudolf-Fordinal-Haus (from Pernitz)

Brief description

Easy route from Pernitz station to the Großer Kitzberg to Rudolf Fordinal House.

Description

In the Gutenstein Alps on the Großer Kitzberg between Pernitz and Waidmannsfeld lies the Rudolf-Fordinal-Haus. The inconspicuous self-catered hut of the Alpine Society "Alpenfreunde" offers a relaxed rest away from stress and bustle. At 771 meters altitude, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Alpine foothills from the beautiful viewing terrace. The Rudolf-Fordinal-Haus also offers the possibility to stay overnight here.

The starting point of our route is Pernitz station; from here, it goes up to Kitzberg comfortably in less than 2 hours via the green-marked path. The Fordinalhaus can also be reached from Waidmannsfeld in the same time. In Pernitz itself, you will find numerous accommodation and dining options. Additionally, several hiking opportunities are available, such as the Biedermeier Erlebnisweg and the Wiener Alpenbogen trail, either on the Öhlerschutzhaus-Pernitz stage or on the Pernitz-Waxeneckhaus stage

Route description Hike to Rudolf-Fordinal-Haus (from Pernitz)

We start directly from Pernitz station via Bahnstraße heading east. We turn right into Florianigasse. Then we walk along the railway tracks and cross them on the right via Geramühlgasse. We follow the street along Quellenstraße and turn left onto Stadionstraße. We are already in the Ortmann district. To the right, we go via Wildbacherstraße and then again right into Kitzbergstraße. From here we follow the street. Winding, we go uphill, always orienting ourselves to the green trail marking. This leads us left onto a path. After 400 meters, we turn left onto the path and then right uphill again. We walk about 100 meters until a path to the Rodulf-Fordinal-Haus branches off to the left.
