Details for: Hike to the Wetterkoglerhaus via the Marienseer Schwaig

Brief description

The shortest way to the Wetterkogelhaus leads from the biotope in Mariensee, past the Marienseer Schwaig to the Hochwechsel. Traveling by car to Mariensee is recommended!

Description

This hike includes access to two huts: Wetterkoglerhaus and Marienseer Schwaig

There is much to see and beautiful views at the numerous Schwaigen am Wechsel. The most impressive view, however, is offered by the Wetterkoglerhaus, located at 1743m at the highest point of the Wechsel, the Hochwechsel. The unique panoramic view stretches over Semmering and Rax to Schneeberg – and even beyond the borders to Slovenia and Hungary. This view can be reached in a short time from Mariensee. The hiking trail, which is suitable for the whole family, leads past the Marienseer Schwaig directly to the summit. At the Marienseer Schwaig, there are homemade products as well as products from their own garden. The mountain hut is also reachable via the Wild Water theme trail. After the ascent to the Wetterkoglerhaus, you can also enjoy delicious meals there, for example with a tasty meat roast. The Wetterkoglerhaus is also easily accessible from the Mönichkirchen chairlift top station; this route lies directly on the Trail at the Vienna Alpine Arc. From here, you can continue hiking to Arabichl and Feistritzsattel.
