Details for: Hiking Hegerberg - starting point Steinabruck

Brief description

Kasten from charming perspectives. The ascent over Krausenberg rewards us with beautiful views towards Kasten and the Lower Stössingbach valley. This Hegerbergweg rises steadily at a leisurely pace and thus counts among the most comfortable approaches to the scenic Hegerberg.

Description

Hegerberg cannot be visited often enough – time and again the magnificent panorama from Jauerling and Dunkelsteinerwald over the Tullnerfeld, Schöpfl massif up to the Schneeberg astonishes anew. At our feet the idyllic gentle hills of the ElsbeerReich in the Wiesenwienerwald. Via the Hegerbergweg from Steinabruck we enjoy a particularly pleasant ascent to the summit – about half of the route is covered on a quiet country road with views towards Kasten, passing a few isolated farmsteads. The rest of the route is mastered on dreamy meadows and forest paths. For your physical well-being, both at the starting point, the Gwörth Wirt, and at Hegerberg with home cooking, is well provided for.

Route description Hiking Hegerberg - starting point Steinabruck

The starting point is on Steinabruck Street, from there we already see the first signpost towards Hegerberg, which we follow slightly uphill. Past a water tower of the 2nd Viennese High Spring Water Pipeline and the Krausenberg farmstead, we come to Eibenhof. Straight ahead from Eibenhof, a field path leads us to the "rest stop at Langwiese." With Hegerberg in front of us, we cross Langwiese and enter the birch grove. The path merges into a forest road that leads us along the slope through the lift line of the Hegerberg lift and over a meadow to a barn at a forest edge. After the barn, we head uphill along the forest edge; soon the shelter house appears and we climb over the meadow to our destination, Hegerberg. As a return route, the Kastner Hegerbergweg via Lielach in combination with the Kastner Uferweg can be taken alternatively, or the Stössinger Hegerbergweg via Unterhegerberger and Freiling.
