Route description Peilstein adventure trail

Starting from the parking lot at the former Mostheuriger Karner, the theme path is clearly marked as such throughout. We begin at the welcome panel “Peilstein adventure trail” and hike via the meadow path parallel to the windbreak belt in an easterly direction to the forest edge, gently ascending. Mainly over meadow and forest paths, the hike leads us up to the Peilsteinhaus – a shelter of the Austrian Alpine Association – at 716 meters above sea level. The Peilsteinhaus is also known as a training base of the Peilstein Alpine School. The steep rock walls are very popular among climbers. Halfway through, we have the option to stop at the Gasthof am Holzschlag. Along the entire path, there are numerous information boards on the topics of wildlife, plants, history, and, of course, climbing. For the return from the summit, we take the same path back to the turnoff at the Gasthof am Holzschlag. Shortly thereafter, we turn right and reach the Via Sacra or the Viennese Pilgrimage Route, soon arriving back at the starting point.
