Details for: Pielachtal Pilgrimage Path: Variant A: Stage 1/3: St. Pölten - Rabenstein an der Pielach

Brief description

St. Pölten - Ebersdorf - Ober-Grafendorf - Dietmannsdorf - Weinburg - Hofstetten-Grünau - Rabenstein an der Pielach

Description

The hike begins in St. Pölten, the state capital of Lower Austria. The pilgrimage hike starts at the Maria Lourdes Church (in the north of St. Pölten – just a few steps from the main train station). From there, it goes through the Kaiser or city forest via the Alpenbahnhof-Kaiserwald and further along the railway hiking trail to Ebersdorf, Ober-Grafendorf, and then to Dietmannsdorf.

The hike continues to the village church in Weinburg and to the Lourdes forest chapel. Shortly afterwards, the path joins the Pielachtal circular hiking trail No. 652, on which it continues to the parish church of Grünau in the market town of Hofstetten-Grünau.

Below the cemetery of Hofstetten-Grünau, you meet the Pielachtal cycle path, which you follow to Mainburg. On hiking trail 4/1, you pass through the Lustwald to Rabenstein with the baptismal church of Cardinal Franz König.
