Rewarding hike with a good view of the village of Pöggstall and later into the Alpine foothills.
The composer Professor Franz Kaminger (1903 - 1972), resident in Vienna and Pöggstall, spent most of his childhood and youth years in his parental home in Pöggstall. His favorite hiking path was the route from Pöggstall to Jasenegg, so it was obvious to name this trail after Prof. Franz Kaminger.
Worth seeing:
Pöggstall Castle - in 2017 it was the venue of the Lower Austrian State Exhibition “Everything That Is Right” - houses a museum about legal history including the only "original" torture chamber and a documentation on the life and work of the artist Franz Traunfellner. The special exhibition “Pöggstall Castle – between region and imperial court” in the barbican also tells exciting stories about the eventful restoration, valuable finds, and surprising tales about the castle lords. A 3D animation vividly shows how the bergfried or the later castle grows from its original structure to its current form.
Besides Pöggstall Castle with its barbican (rondel), also worth seeing are the very old St. Anna Church in the field (1140), the parish church of Pöggstall, and the pilgrimage church in Neukirchen (1118) on the Ostrong, which is older as a pilgrimage church than Maria Taferl.
