Route description Steinbruchweg

Immediately next to the municipal office, you go down the Kirchenberg to Pürbacher Straße, cross it and continue walking left to the Gruber inn. There you turn right into Schremser Straße, go over the Braunaubach bridge and immediately after that turn left into Blockheideweg. You pass the Hubertus column and turn right into the 2nd alley. Then you reach the federal road, turn right and after about 100 m go left under the road. After the underpass, turn left again, then keep right towards "Kirchenwaldsteinbruch."

Now you always go along the path under the high-voltage line. Meadows and fields are on the left and right until you finally reach the forest. Then there is an ascent (keep left) to the quarry. Follow the path around the quarry to the edge of the forest, then continue straight on the middle path. The path leads past the Gmünd water reservoir (stone wall). Follow it to the junction and then turn left in the direction of the company "Backhausen", fairy tale grotto, moon ponds. 50 m after that there are some stone troughs and an old pigsty. After 100 m on the left side, you will see a Hubertus shrine, where you continue right. After about 70 m slight downhill there is the marked crossroads "Fa. Backhausen, fairy tale grotto." Here turn right, walk through the high forest to the Braunaubach. Now follow the stream on the right to the bridge. Here is the textile factory Backhausen.

After the bridge, keep right and walk up the hill – past the old factory fire brigade house. Before the two-story residential house, the route turns left towards the federal road, past a wayside shrine. Follow the side path on the left, past the company Silbernagel and the sewage treatment plant to the underpass. Go under the federal road, keep right and pass the wine tavern. Shortly after the wine tavern, turn left into Friedhofstraße. The path leads past the municipal environmental association (GUV) Gmünd and the cemetery. At the next large crossroads, go right past the fire station (on the right the elementary school built in 1903), up the hill towards the church back to the starting point.
