Details for: Tut gut Schritteweg Eibesthal

Brief description

Start / finish: Eibesthal

Description

The 6.4 km route leads from the fire station over an ice pond and a playground up to a hill that offers an impressive view of the Weinviertel landscape. In an adjacent field, there are free-range pigs. The path leads back to the village through vineyards and fields where the Strobl family’s Heuriger (wine tavern) is located. The path goes once more out of the village past the cellar lane Pfandnerweg. Chapels and wayside shrines lining the way recall past times and invite you to pause and reflect. After the kindergarten and the musicians’ home, you reach the Fritsch inn via a cellar square on Schenkberg. After the church, which is dedicated to Saint Markus, the path returns to the starting point.

Starting point of the tour

Fire station Eibesthal

Route description Tut gut Schritteweg Eibesthal

The path begins at the bicycle rest area opposite the fire station in Brunngartl, leads over Mahdergasse into Prälat Fried-Straße, past the sports field and the ice pond as well as the tennis court and a playground.

The circular route continues straight on to the Straßberg and then up it. The elevation gained is rewarded with a beautiful view over Eibesthal and the surrounding Weinviertel hill landscape. 300 m after the elevated tank or transmission mast, the path turns left. Before it turns left again 600 m later, the organic free-range pigs of the Strobl family can still be observed. Then it goes past the lightning wayside shrine, which bears witness to a great misfortune in the last century, downhill towards the stream. Over the bridge, the path leads back to the village. After the Florian chapel, it follows the main street (Oberort) to the Strobl Heuriger. Here, the path turns right toward the fountain area and Wiegenwald. At the Wiegen cross, it goes uphill, then left and before the cellar lane Pfandnerweg turns right. It continues slightly left to the soldiers’ cross and from there further to the Josef chapel or the cellar of Weinbau Faber-Köchl, where the path leads left toward the kindergarten. After the musicians’ home, turn right past the historic Passion play site and over the cellar square to the Fritsch inn and from there continue to the church and back to the starting point.
