Description
Wachau World Heritage Trail: From the Arnsdorf Ferry to Aggsbach-Dorf
The stage from the Spitz–Arnsdorf roll ferry to Aggsbach-Dorf combines impressive vineyard landscapes with tranquil woodland areas and striking cultural landmarks. From Arnsdorf, the route first leads to the Glauberkreuz rest area amid the Arnsdorf vineyard sites, then continues through the Buchental valley up to the Hoher Stein. An optional, secured section provides access here to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Wachau, offering sweeping views over the Danube valley.
The trail then continues to the Baroque pilgrimage monastery of Maria Langegg and into the quiet landscapes of the Dunkelsteinerwald. Following varied forest and farm tracks, the route leads to the imposing Aggstein Castle Ruin and finally descends to Aggsbach-Dorf, where this culturally rich and scenic stage of the Welterbesteig Wachau comes to an end.
