Aussichtspunkt Hubertuskapelle

Scenic lookout

Description

Barely 200 m from the Eiskeller up in the forest is the "Hubertus Chapel Viewpoint" - the chapel was built in 1875 as the burial chapel of the Barons of Ehrenfels (owners of the castle and estate in Brunn am Wald).

The owners of the castle were buried here for several decades. During the Russian occupation after the Second World War, the chapel was looted. Around 25 years ago, it was rededicated as a Hubertus Chapel by the local hunting community. The bones were walled in and the area around the chapel was cleared. From this hill, you have a wonderful view of the landscape and into the distance. A network of hiking trails also leads past the ice cellar and the viewpoint, starting at the Gasthof Schindler parking lot.

Further information is available at Gasthof Schindler, Brunn am Wald 30 or at the Lichtenau municipal office.
