Description
The 751-metre-high Bischofberg in the Lower Austrian municipality of Ertl is located in the hills of the Eisenwurzen region, between the Upper Austrian Enns Valley and the Ybbstal in Lower Austria.

The mountain is an open hilltop with two forest islands and four farmsteads above Maria Neustift. The Urlursprung spring is located to the north of the Bischofberg.
Hikes in the surrounding area
- Starting from the village center of Ertl, the hiking trail to Url-Ursprung leads over meadow paths and through forests to Haus Bischofberg. The 11.5 km long trail offers a beautiful insight into the nature of the Mostviertel region. The tour ends at the starting point in Ertl. Duration approx. 3:30 h.
- The Voralpenblick hiking trail starts from the Ertl kindergarten, across meadows and along the Voralpenstraße up to the Buchenberg to the Voralpenblick viewing platform. An 11.5 km long and easy hike. Duration approx. 3 hours.
Excursion tip
From the Voralpenblick lookout point, the view extends across the Mostviertel hills to the foothills of the Alps.
