Description

Paths to POWER

Legend has it that around 1640, a shepherd was looking for a runaway cow and found it drinking at the spring. He also drank from the spring and saw the image of the Mother of God in the mirror of the spring water. There are also reports of answered prayers. According to old records, it was believed that the water from the spring "was a special water that had more power and effect than other waters". Even today, pilgrims moisten their eyes and take water from the spring home with them.

Today's Bründl Chapel was built around 1697 "ober dem Grainbrunn" by order of Maria Margaretha Magdalena von Strattmann, née Countess of Abensperg and Traun.

The Bründel Chapel is located about 5 minutes' walk north of the parish church, the actual origin of Grainbrunn, the chapel was first mentioned in 1544. The spring water is said to have a special effect and power.
