Of frog kings and Sleeping Beauty hedges
Of frog kings and Sleeping Beauty hedges
This wild and romantic natural garden is located on the edge of the Leiser mountains - "a fairy tale from ancient times..." is probably what comes to mind for many a visitor here! Behind a dense hedge of English roses, climbing roses and rambler roses, there are not only numerous other roses, but also many other things to discover: old, ivy-covered trees, wild shrubs such as hazelnut, hawthorn, dirndl or Pfarrerkapperl, colorful perennial beds, flower meadows and many secluded resting places in between.
A large swimming pond is home to a large number of "frog kings" (grass frogs, tree frogs, pond frogs, lake frogs, common toads, green toads). Stag beetles and bats buzz through the summer dusk and birds of all kinds sing in competition with the creator and keeper of this natural paradise (who, as a trained singer, likes to sing a song or two and occasionally organizes concerts and readings). And in the middle of the garden is - no, not a fairytale castle, but a really old house (part of a former castle, around 400 years old and owned by the family for over 150 years), which can also be visited on request.
