Description
In the Erlauftal Fire Brigade Museum you can see the development of Austria's largest aid organization from the 18th century to the present day. You can see historical fire-fighting equipment from the stick fire engine to the horse-drawn wagon fire engines.
In this museum, you can not only see everything to do with the fire department, but also actively experience it. There are tours with vintage cars, target spraying (every 1st Saturday of the month) with an old cart sprayer and a tour of modern fire-fighting equipment and vehicles.
Special exhibition (May 1 - October 26)
"Life behind barbed wire"
In the Erlauftal Fire Brigade Museum, you can see the special exhibition "Life behind barbed wire", which provides lots of information about the k. u. k. POW camps (1915-1918) in the Erlauftal valley.
The books accompanying the exhibition: "Gefangen unter Habsburgs Krone" and "Leben hinter Stacheldraht" by Franz Wiesenhofer.
