Freilichtmuseum Kalte Kuchl

Museum

Description

The Rieder family's open-air museum "Historical Folklore Kalte Kuchl" takes guests on an interesting journey into the past. Numerous restored exhibits illustrate rural life in the past and bear witness to the former charcoal mining in the region. The museum, consisting of the 200-year-old charcoal burner's hut, a woodcutter's hut and a chapel, is located directly on the Viennese pilgrimage route to Mariazell. It illustrates the history of the region with many pictures, depictions and photos from times long past. Active charcoal piles can also be viewed.
