Hegerberg - Hohenberger Höger

Mountain summit

Description

The rarely visited Hohenberger Höger - also known as Hohenberger Hegerberg - in the Gutenstein Alps rises to an impressive 1,179 meters around 30 kilometers from Sankt Pölten. Together with its rocky neighbor, the Reisalpe, it forms the Reisalpe-Hegerberg group. As part of the main Alpine ridge, the forested mountain also forms the district boundary between Lilienfeld and Neunkirchen.

The conspicuous wedge shape of the Hohenberger Högers is striking. Unmarked forest roads and paths characterize the quiet mountain, which rewards its rare hikers with particularly beautiful views: at the summit, the view extends as far as the Jochart, on the south-western and eastern ridge as far as the Gutenstein and Türnitz Alps and the Ötscher.
