Heidenturm

Historical sites, Scenic lookout

Description

The Heidenturm is the symbol and emblem of Kittsee.

It stands on a field (Ried Turmfeldäcker) outside the village, situated between the Hotter borders of Kittsee, Edelstal and Berg on the old Amber Road, not far from the remains of the Limes. From its location you have a wonderful view of the skyline of Bratislava.

The four-storey tower, also known as the Öder Turm, is probably the remains of a late medieval watch and bell tower of the Lebarn settlement. Remains of the walls indicate that it once had an octagonal stone helmet. This building has been a listed building since 1932.
