Hochwechsel in the Wechsel Mountains

Mountain summit, Scenic lookout

Description

The mountain ridge of the Wechsel - an eastern Austrian low mountain range on the border between Lower Austria and Styria - stretches over 15 km. Its three most sublime peaks each rise to over 1,700 m in height. Thanks to its mountain landscapes ranging from lovely to challenging, the Wechsel is considered a hikeable family destination on the one hand - and a recreation area for experienced hikers and climbers on the other.

The Hochwechsel, as the highest peak, offers particularly rewarding views: the panoramic view extends from Semmering and Rax to Schneeberg. In good weather, even Burgenland, Styria, Hungary and Slovenia can be seen. From mid-May to mid-November you can also take a rest in the Wetterkoglerhaus.

Location
Border of Lower Austria and Styria southeast of the Semmering mountain.
