Hochwechsel in the Wechsel Mountains
Mountain summit, Scenic lookout
Description
The ridge of the Wechsel - a low mountain range in eastern Austria on the border between Lower Austria and Styria - stretches for over 15 km. Its three highest peaks tower over 1,700 m above sea level. Thanks to its mountain landscapes ranging from gentle to challenging, the Wechsel is a hiking destination for families on the one hand - and a local recreation area for experienced hikers and climbers on the other.
The Hochwechsel, as the highest peak, offers particularly rewarding views: the panoramic view extends from Semmering and Rax to Schneeberg. In good weather, you can even see Burgenland, Styria, Hungary and Slovenia. From mid-May to mid-November, the Wetterkoglerhaus is also a great place to take a break.
Location
Border of Lower Austria and Styria south-east of the Semmering
