Keltischer Steinkreis in Geyersberg

Description

The stone circle in Geyersberg in the Dunkelsteinerwald is a true-to-scale replica of a megalithic-Celtic stone circle. It was erected in 1989 by Prof. Wilhelm Cerveny and can be visited all year round.

The shadows cast by the stones indicate the beginning of the seasons to an accuracy of +/- 1 minute. For example, winter begins when the shadow of the south stone reaches the center of the circle. The site is a combination of 2 major European cultures, the megalithic culture and Celticism.
