Museum Lilienfeld

Museum

Description

The Museum Lilienfeld is the museum of the region of the district of Lilienfeld. It collects and communicates the history of the Traisen and Gölsen valleys.
The region is historically characterized by the Cistercian monastery of Lilienfeld, the Via Sacra, metal processing and the timber industry.
The innovations of ski pioneer, artist and inventor Mathias Zdarsky (1856-1940), who lived in Marktl near Lilienfeld, had an impact far beyond the region.

The museum is located in the center of Lilienfeld in a Gothic gate tower on the Traisen River and can be reached on foot from Lilienfeld train station in 7 minutes.

Due to renovation work, the museum is currently closed until 2025.
