Naturschutzgebiet Meloner Au

The Meloner Au is one of the most beautiful raised bog areas in the Waldviertel. It is still a primeval Waldviertel landscape and has been declared a nature reserve due to the rarity of its flora and fauna.

The Meloner Au with an area of 163.2 hectares was declared a nature reserve in 1992. It is located southwest of Altmelon in the Waldviertel on the plateau of the "Weinsberger Wald" and is part of the European nature reserve "Waldviertler Teich-, Heide- und Moorlandschaft". The moor can be hiked in the period from June 20 to November 30.
