Kunstinstallation Natursteinpyramiden
Handicraft, Outdoor adventure
Description
Where does craftsmanship end and art begin? - And vice versa. The boundaries are fluid.
The natural stone pyramids in Langenlois at the southern entrance to the town are an example of this. When terraced walls or entire vineyard huts are created from "disruptive" harvest stones that the winegrower finds in the vineyard, this is craftsmanship. When objects such as these stone pyramids are created using this ancient natural stone masonry technique, it is art.
The natural stone pyramids are a work of art of high quality craftsmanship that welcomes guests to Langenlois and tells of the creative power of the people here. A work of art that invites you to pause, feel the energy of the stones weighing up to 200 kilograms, take in the mosaic with the Langenlois vine and ponder why two of these pyramids are without a top, i.e. "unfinished" ...
Designed and built by international artists and passionate amateurs as part of a workshop in the "Garden Summer Lower Austria 2021" (planning: Patrick McAfee, 2019, construction: Friends of the Langenlois Horticultural School, 2021).
