Pfarrkirche Großrußbach
Church
Description
The parish church in Großrußbach is a historic, listed church in the southern Weinviertel. It is dedicated to St. Valentine and was built in the 15th century as a late Gothic stepped church. The church is visible from afar on a hill above the market and was originally designed as a fortified church. Over the centuries, it suffered several fires and was repaired each time. Its current appearance is rooted in the late Gothic style with later phases of decoration and renovation around 1900. The interior is dominated by the high altar with the image of St. Valentine, who is particularly revered as the patron saint of lovers and travelling feet.
