Schloss Ulmerfeld

Castle

Description

Ulmerfeld Castle was mainly the administrative center of the manor, but the building also had a representative and military function. Ulmerfeld Castle was repeatedly extended and rebuilt throughout its history. With its Gothic castle chapel, columned hall and fortified tower, it is a jewel of medieval architecture.

The imposing castle tower, the construction of which began at the end of the 12th century, can be seen from afar. The Gothic castle chapel with its murals dates back to the 14th century. Concerts and theater performances take place in the romantic arcaded courtyard in summer. The west wing houses exhibitions and a historical collection of weapons from the master-at-arms Ernst Urschitz.
