Description

The sgraffito on this iron trading house, which was first mentioned in a document in 1593, shows the town surrounded by a fortified wall with towers and gates. An ox wagon drives grain to the "Scheibbser Traydmarkt". Carters bring rough iron from the Eisenwurzen with a heavy team of horses, a Kreunzen wagon made of woven willow delivers charcoal for iron processing. On their way back to the Erzberg, the carters will take "provisions" such as grain, lard and Cider. The horse-drawn carriage takes gentlemen to the Carthusian offices in Scheibbs.
