Stadtpfarrkirche zur Hl. Dreifaltigkeit
Church
Description
The parish church of the Most Holy Trinity in the center of Bruck an der Leitha is one of the Baroque gems of our homeland. The church was built between 1696 and 1702 on top of the town tower, which had already existed for a long time. The tower was adapted to the baroque form of the church and the pyramid-shaped roof was replaced by the bell tower, which has an onion-shaped dome. The construction of the magnificent façade on the main front of our parish church between 1738 and 1740 completed the church in its present form. Above the main portal, it depicts the Assumption of St. John of Nepomuk (canonized in 1729), who was particularly revered in the Baroque period. On either side of St. John of Nepomuk are the statues of the plague patrons St. Sebastian and St. Roch, as a sign that this church is also a votive church for deliverance from the plague. On the right outside is the statue of St. Leopold, on the left that of St. Florian. Above this level we see a stone niche with the group of St. Michael the Archangel, who plunges Satan into the abyss with a flaming sword. A stone shield with the inscription: QUIS UT DEUS - Who is like God?
