Description
Austria's northernmost active monastery is located in the center of the town of Geras.
Long description: The 14 canons of the monastery work as pastors. They currently look after 23 parishes in Austria and abroad. The monastery was founded in 1153 and baroqueized in the middle of the 18th century. The exhibition area includes the marble hall, imperial room, corridor gallery, convent corridor, veduta hall and foyer. The cloister, sacristy, library and prelature can also be shown during guided tours.
The herb garden (May to October), prelate garden, collegiate church and convent cemetery are freely accessible.
