Weinviertel Radrastplatz bei der Windmühle

Scenic lookout

Description

The windmill is a landmark of the wine town of Retz. It is one of the last two operational windmills in Austria and was shut down in 1924 after decades of profitable grinding work. After being restored by Dutch windmill builders, it is now turning and grinding again. A technical monument of great cultural and historical value, which can be experienced in breathtaking aesthetics. Under the windmill - at the Weinviertel rest area - it is a wonderful place to relax. The view is breathtaking. The view over the wine town of Retz makes you forget all your worries.
