Hiking tip for the Wetterkogel

Families and leisure hikers in particular can reach the Wetterkogel summit on an easy and idyllically wooded route: first, the trail leads 922 meters up to the Amstettner Hut in Waidhofen an der Ybbs - the path is easily accessible even with baby carriages. The traditional mountain hut, which also offers 30 beds, is open from the end of April to the end of October. From there, an easy hiking trail leads up to the summit, where a wooden summit cross welcomes visitors.
A popular circular hiking route, on the other hand, is easy but takes a good 3 hours and leads via Kleinseeberg - Hochseeberg - Wetterkogel - Hirschkogel - Amstettner huts - Kleinseeberg.

Good to know: The Wetterkogel is known for its "carnival coordinates". It likes to fool its guests - via a wooden sign - by stating that its highest point is 1,111 meters. However, according to measurements, it is actually 1,115 meters high.
