Wieser - Schnaps, Kaffee & Marmeladen

Description

The artisanal tradition of Wieser products has its origins in the fact that almost every household in the Wachau makes its own jams and many also distil schnapps. The Wiesers therefore diligently produce and experiment according to traditional recipes and with new ideas, and Markus Wieser learned the craft of master distiller from scratch in his grandfather's schnapps distillery in the late 1980s. The schnapps are distilled exclusively from quality fruit without the addition of any flavorings.

His wife Johanna takes part of the apricot harvest for herself. At first, she made jam from them for private use. But when the jam sold like hot cakes, they decided to add the product - which is still made by hand - to the company's range, and over time Markus and Johanna have expanded the range with products that they enjoy themselves. High-quality craftsmanship is particularly important to them. This also explains their decision to work with the best chocolatiers in Austria to produce fine chocolates (with roasted apricot kernels, for example). Various types of Arabica coffee are also produced in the in-house roastery.

The Wiesers have even become active in the cosmetics industry. Because the apricot kernels provide valuable oil for external use, a traditional skincare range has been developed together with renowned natural cosmetics manufacturers - incidentally, it is called "Die schöne Wachauerin".

Take time for a walk and try our delicious aperitif drink "Marille Bitter". Taste it in the stores in Melk, Wösendorf, Krems and twice in Dürnstein, where there is delicious espresso coffee from our own roastery, for example.
