Wildobstlehrpfad
Description
... a walk along the Melkfluss promenade in Ruprechtshofen
On the approximately 1.2 km long wild fruit tree nature trail right next to the Melk River, there are more than a hundred trees and shrubs of all sizes, all marked by name.
There is a snack hedge with berries and delicious fruit to sample. Numerous benches invite you to linger. Every visitor can pick flowers, leaves and fruit! The information pavilion at the start of the trail displays real wood from trees and wild shrubs.
Free of charge!
The entrance to the wild fruit nature trail is located coming from the center of Ruprechtshofen, branching off to the right before the Melkbrücke bridge. After 200 m you will find the information pavilion.
The election of "wild fruit" as Tree of the Year 2010 was the reason for the Ruprechtshofen Beautification Association to recall these fruit species, which have been known and widely used since ancient times, in the form of an educational trail along the Melk Promenade. As an important component of biodiversity, which is essential for the survival of mankind, wild fruit should therefore be cultivated more in the open countryside and in home gardens and its fruits processed into tasty and healthy products for the kitchen and cellar.
Guided tours: expert guided tours are organized for groups and school classes.
Fee for guided tours: € 20 per group or € 10 per school class.
